工作人员, 学生, faculty and volunteers engage our 学生 in the course of providing services through the Academic Achievement Center to ensure that all 学生 are provided an equal opportunity to be successful in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. 

Your Rights and Responsibilities

  • As a student, you are responsible for meeting Waldorf University’s requirements, with or without the appropriate accommodations (examples explained below). 
  • You are not required to register with disability services, identify yourself to instructors, staff or other 学生 as having a disability, or accept accommodations you do not need or want. 
  • 然而, if you need and/or want accommodations, you are responsible for contacting the AAC and completing the process for requesting them. If you choose to not register with disability services or refuse accommodations, you are responsible for the consequences of your actions. 
  • We encourage those with disabilities to advocate on their own behalf to utilize their right to access and equality. Those individuals who do not identify themselves and request appropriate accommodations may limit their civil rights protections.

For best results, you should do the following

  • 联系 the AAC as soon as you know you will need services, whether long or short term, by filling out the Initial Accommodation Request
  • A disabilities specialist will reach out to you via email or phone to set up a meeting once your accommodation request is reviewed. 

Gather and provide documentation of your disability and requested accommodations. Your documentation should include the following:

  • Medical diagnosis or description of your disability or disabilities.
  • IEP or 504 Plan from previous learning facility.
  • Documentation must be dated within the last 3 years to be usable.

If you are approved for accommodations, you decide if you want to use them. 如果你知道, you will work with a disabilities coordinator who will then work with faculty and staff to ensure the proper attention is given to your disability.

Examples of accommodations include, but are not limited to:

  • 注意接受者
  • Extended time for quizzes and exams
  • Test assistance via technology
  • Quiet testing environment in the AAC
  • Advocacy with campus personnel
